The Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) is prioritising the processing of lodged employer sponsored visas where the nominated occupation is considered to fill critical skills that support Australia’s economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic in Australia.

 

Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List

The Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List, or PMSOL, itemises 18 occupations that attract DOHA’s immediate attention. These are:

  1. Chief Executive or Managing Director (ANZSCO 111111)
  2. Construction Project Manager (ANZSCO 133111)
  3. Mechanical Engineer (ANZSCO 233512)
  4. General Practitioner (ANZSCO 253111)
  5. Resident Medical Officer (ANZSCO 253112)
  6. Psychiatrist (ANZSCO 253411)
  7. Medical Practitioner Not Elsewhere Classified (ANZSCO 253999)
  8. Midwife (ANZSCO 254111)
  9. Registered Nurse – Aged Care (ANZSCO 254412)
  10. Registered Nurse – Critical Care and Emergency (ANZSCO 254415)
  11. Registered Nurse –Medical (ANZSCO 254418)
  12. Registered Nurse – Mental Health (ANZSCO 254422)
  13. Registered Nurse – Perioperative (ANZSCO 254423)
  14. Registered Nurses Not Elsewhere Classified (ANZSCO 254499)
  15. Developer Programmer (ANZSCO 261312)
  16. Software Engineer (ANZSCO 261313)
  17. Social Worker (ANZSCO 272511)
  18. Maintenance Planner (ANZSCO 312911)

 

Although no actual timeframe is listed for the above occupations, if you lodged a temporary residence 494, 482 visa or a permanent residence 186 or 187 visa that nominates 1 of the 18 occupations listed above, then you can expect to get a result earlier than the average processing times for all other occupations for the visas listed below.

 

At time of publication, provides a standard processing time for all non-PMSOL occupations to be:

Temporary Residence Employer Sponsored Visas

  • 482 TSS Visa (Short Term Stream) – approximately 5 to 7 months from date of lodgement
  • 482 TSS Visa (Medium / Long Term Stream) – approximately 4 to 7 months from date of lodgement
  • 482 TSS Visa (Labour Agreement Stream) – approximately 4 to 7 months from date of lodgement
  • 494 Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional – approximately 5 to 8 months from date of lodgement

 

Permanent Residence Employer Sponsored Visas

  • 186 Employer Nominated Stream (Direct Entry Stream) – approximately 5 to 6 months from date of lodgement
  • 186 Employer Nominated Stream (Temporary Residence Transition Stream) – approximately 5 to 9 months from date of lodgement
  • 186 Employer Nominated Stream (Labour Agreement Stream) – approximately 8 to 15 months from date of lodgement
  • 187 Regional Sponsored Migration Stream (Direct Entry Stream) – approximately 12 to 32 months from date of lodgement
  • 187 Regional Sponsored Migration Stream (Temporary Residence Transition Stream) – approximately 6 to 9 months from date of lodgement
