As a part of the Annual Wage Review (2021-2022), the Expert Panel of the Fair Work Commission decided to increase modern award minimum wages by 4.6 percent subject to a minimum increase for adult award classifications of $40 per week. The $40 per week increase is based on a 38-hour week for a full-time employee.ย

For the majority of Modern Awards, this was effective for the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2022.

However, for some awards that fall into the aviation, hospitality, and tourism industries, this increase will take effect from the first full pay period on or after 1 October 2022. These affected awards are:

  • Aircraft Cabin Crew Award 2020
  • Airline Operations โ€“ Ground Staff Award 2020
  • Air Pilots Award 2020
  • Airport Employees Award 2020
  • Airservices Australia Enterprise Award 2016
  • Alpine Resorts Award 2020
  • Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020
  • Marine Tourism and Charter Vessels Award 2020
  • Registered and Licensed Clubs Award 2020
  • Restaurant Industry Award 2020

Following the announcement in June for the increase in minimum wage rates, the finalised wage determinations have been published on the Fair Work website for both allowances and hourly rates of pay.
