Chatime is the fastest growing iced tea franchise in Australia, with a mix of stores owned by corporate and franchisees they achieved the Seek TopFranchise Award in 2018 and are a brand on the move and growing fast. Chatime hired Judy in early 2018 in line with corporate investment into reinforcing governance around pay compliance. Judy engaged EI for Payroll, HR and Legal services looking to rollout a new payroll and HR solution nationally.
A complete audit of contacts and policies across all franchisees was required along with the implementation of a streamlined and consistent HR on-boarding and compliance system. Chatime’s bookkeeping model meant that they managed the payroll for both the corporate stores and some franchisees, however the requirement was to implement new software and managed payroll for the entire network. Staff on-boarding, employee lifecycle management and HR compliance was managed in a multitude of ways across the franchise network with disparity between the understanding of best-practice and compliance requirements.

EI Legal started an audit program checking for any areas of non-compliance across a number of its stores and franchises. A compliant document suite and policies were created and rolled out to the network of stores.

All pay cycles we aligned to the same pay period with EI administering payroll via one central point of contact. The change has acted to provide both an overall cost saving in administration and safeguard the Chatime brand. EI assigned a highly skilled team of enablement experts to aid the change over process.
Chatime immediately experienced a reduction in isolated HR and Payroll incidents by over 90%. Improved processes and a single point of contact within EI decreased the overall payroll processing error rate to less than 1%.
